W.H.A.M. Award

Check out the Worked Hamfesters Award. You need to contact Hamfesters Radio Club members to qualify for this much sought after award. You can use any mode and any frequency.

Basic award is issued for the following conditions: 10 contacts within state of Illinois; 5 contacts from out of state; 3 from out of country; and only 1 contact if from out of this world.

Field Day --- June

Field Day LogoOur Field Day simulates emergency operating conditions were we operate portable radio equipment "in the field" with temporary antennas and emergency gas generators, solar power, and even bicycle driven generator power. We operate with voice and Morse code. There may be some digital operation also. Field Day is always held on the fourth weekend of June. Location is at 111th St. and 86th Ave. in Palos Hills. This year it will be on June 25 and 26, 2009. Set up begins at 0900 Saturday morning. The contest begins at 1300 and goes until 1300 on the following day, Sunday. Interspersed with the radio operating is a feast provided by our Chief Cook. We have the best gourmet food while in the "field" of any amateur effort.

Hamfest --- August

Our 73rd annual Hamfest and computer festival is scheduled for Sunday August 12 2007, at the Will County Fairgrounds. It is located one half mile east of I-57 at exit 327 in Peotone, Illinois. Gates open at 0600 Sunday AM for guests and flea marketers. The main pavilion with dozens of commercial vendors open at 0800. There is plenty of free parking. Advance tickets with two prize stubs are $6.00 and single-stub tickets are $8.00 at the gate. Kids under 12 are free. December Christmas Party

 

Every year "Santa" arrives for our December Meeting. We enjoy a full sitdown dinner and then a short fun business meeting.

The Christmas Party is looked forward to all year. It is the highlight of the year and features the installation of the new club officers.
