Field Day 2012

Scouts in the GOTA tent doing some training. Later they all worked the GOTA station and made some contacts. George, N9VOK, makes the first GOTA contact fr 2012 Jim Riley, KC9CYL, Field Day chairman barking orders. Big speaker and lamp for the GOTA station, N9VOK Cozy set up for GOTA Brian, W9HLQ and xyl Sharon, W9FVM Some Hamfesters operators and the ARRL Division directors Dick Isley, W9GIG and Kermit Carlson, W9XA look over the Hamfesters special Field Day rules. Chuck Krezwick, WV9C, Illinois State Representative joins the group. George, N9VOK at the controls Ed, WB9STB, coaches our guest operator at the GOTA station Guest making a 40 meter contact Trying to fish a 160 meter inverted Kelly, KB9ZRM and friend Bob, N9RAT at the Hamfesters Communication trailer Kurt, running 20 meters late at night Matt, K9MS logging Tim, KC9POS Tim, KC9POS Our tent for GOTA. The ladies lined up to operate GOTA. Ray running a little CW on the GOTA rig. Trailer had 15/80 and the UHF/VHF is on the back of the 1952 Forest Service truck. Three to put up a one man tent and the XYL with the instructions. A well fed team scores well. This is lunch of Italian sausage and meatballs. W9HLQ is done with lunch and ready to start the show. We a had great set up team - many participants. We even had our own cake! Yes, we did eat it too. George, N9VOK, gets the first contact on the GOTA station. Jim, KB9CYL is logging. This is the first class seating in the front row, followed by “coach seating”. The GOTA station always draws a crowd. We used two meter FM (on the table) as an intercom between operating positions. We were too far apart to rely on yelling. Patti, KC9LYE, runs the Night Owl net starting at 10:30 pm Saturday nite. She used the headlamp for logging. Our cozy GOTA station with lamp for late nite contesting. The UHF/VHF station - lots of home brew here. There is a lot of gear inside including a 1 KW amplifier. The 20 meter station with pretty girl looking on. Young lad operating the GOTA station. W9HLQ was here…. We operated from Worth, Illinois - It was Worth It!
